Salvation Army Clitheroe

... behind closed doors.

  • The Director asked me if I knew what the transference is. I said yes, and offered to discuss that issue. He declined. [Transference is a very important concept in Analytical Psychology. I've had an interest in the transference process for years, and have special ordered The Psychology of the Transference, by C.G. Jung (and similar books) several times in the last 20 years]
  • "Transference" is an important process to observe. It is a kind of projection (feeling something as external that most would see as internal).
  • The issue was whether my action with those two clients was the result of unconscious processes in me, or if it was the result of my experiences with people in that situation (i.e. my "life trauma" vs my "life education").
  • It is common for people to argue that [counter] transference is bad, without understanding what they are refering to. [Even though in this case it was irrelevant (since counter-transference was not the issue)].
  • The Residential Director has a marginal grasp of Psychology. He is not able to hold a very simple conversation using terms and ideas that most Psychology students would be familiar with.
