Serina* | |
Serina Theresa Vazquez, 32,
died June 13, 2007, at her Anchorage home. A
celebration of life will be at noon Monday at Kehl's Forest Lawn
Mortuary, 11621 Old Seward Highway. A viewing will be from 11 a.m. to
noon. A reception will be after the service. She was born
Aug. 15, 1974, in Lynwood, Calif., and lived in Washington before
becoming a resident of Alaska in 2003. "As
a dedicated single mother, she treasured her son above all else," her
family wrote. "With a fun-loving and free spirit, she was extremely
creative and expressed her individuality through her original crafts
and love of music. "Serina overcame many obstacles. She
graduated
from UAA School of Nursing in December 2006 and worked as a LPN in
various medical facilities in Alaska, Washington and California. "Serina's
warm laughter and beautiful smile will be missed by her family and
friends as well as the many uncounted lives she touched by her service
and compassion for the sick and elderly. She is now safely home." She
is survived by her 8-year-old-son, Ian Hermansen; brother, Dylan;
mother, Jeannette Messina; father, Richard Vazquez; stepmother,
Virginia; and half-sister, Kaylynn. She will also be missed by many
aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who love her very much. The
family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the
Serina Vazquez Memorial Fund at Wells Fargo Bank for her son.
